A BIT OF MACHINE HISTORY
Founded in 2005 by our chairman Jean Guillaume Dujardin and David Négrier, TheCodingMachine Paris is the first historical entity of TheCodingMachine Group, which also has subsidiaries in Lyon, Hong Kong and Lisbon.
Since 2006, the emphasis has been on Open Source (birth of Mouf, Xaja, TDBM, etc.).
In 2009, the subprime crisis ravaged everything in its path and TCM passed this first hurdle. TCM’s diversity in terms of clients is a strength, as many projects, even small ones, are sometimes better than one huge project in a crisis context.
In 2012, TheCodingMachine has grown and moved to the centre of Paris, in the Opéra district!
In 2017, the projects grew, but we kept our pragmatic idea of always controlling the project from start to finish
In 2023, TheCodingMachine is an international group with several subsidiaries and a total turnover of around €10 million, which has doubled in three years.
OUR TECHNOLOGICAL POSITION
TheCodingMachine specialises in Open Source web technologies.
Historically, TheCodingMachine has been an expert in PHP and Symfony in particular, for which we have developed an in-house Symfony/Vue.Js/Nuxt.JS boilerplate that forms the technical basis of many of our projects.
However, as technical experts, TheCodingMachine has also carried out numerous projects using other technologies on both the back end (Laravel, Node.JS, etc.) and the front end (Vue.JS, React.JS, Angular, etc.).
TheCodingMachine can also work with you on the very latest technologies, whether mobile, blockchain, AI or even No Code.
PROJECT METHODOLOGY AND TYPOLOGY
TCM’s historical speciality is to carry out fixed-price projects using an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) approach in order to minimise the risks for the customer. TCM Lisboa undertakes to deliver the agreed scope at a fixed cost and on time.
However, TheCodingMachine also carries out projects on a contract basis and our teams are SCRUM-certified. Most of TheCodingMachine’s customers secure the technical foundation of their project with a fixed price, before developing it more flexibly in line with user feedback with a managed service.
In terms of projects, TCM Lisboa’s core activity is the web development of business applications designed to digitalise the management of its customers’ activities. TheCodingMachine also produces a number of web platforms designed to create a space for exchange between a company and its customers, between partners, etc. Following the technological developments of recent years, TCM Lisboa has positioned itself in responsive development, mobile applications developed in hybrid and Progressive Web Applications.

CORPORATE CULTURE & VALUES
From the outset, TheCodingMachine’s aim was to create a business model inspired by the Open Source community, which enables thousands of people from different countries to collaborate on projects.
This Open Source DNA is reflected in TheCodingMachine’s desire to draw on Open Source technologies, but also to involve the community that develops them, in order to keep the ecosystem alive. In the same vein, TheCodingMachine has always been willing to give back to the community by making its own tools, developed in-house, available as Open Source.
TheCodingMachine’s values are centred on employee development through training and a defined career path. Our employees are almost systematically recruited from school and benefit from the TCM Academy, a continuous internal training programme: NOOB training, peer-codings, experienced training, Friday points, etc. The Managing Director and Technical Director of TCM Paris are themselves the fruit of this programme. That’s rare in the digital sector!
Unlike more traditional DSNs (Digital Services Company), employees of TheCodingMachine are not placed as consultants with clients on long-term assignments, but remain fully-fledged employees within our premises and a close-knit team.
